I purchased a knit hat today and was wondering why...

I purchased a knit hat today around lunch time out side of the commons and was wondering why they were being sold? It has cat ears. They were also selling frogs, horses, dinosaurs, etc.
I remember that there was a sign somewhere but I can't remember what it said.
Anyone else buy a hat?
They definitely were cute!
