Is UMBC a Wasteful Community?
posted about 13 years ago
So, I've been thinking about this a bit, and exactly how green is UMBC? Yes, it seems like the community tries to put on a show of appearing to be very green and some things have been put toward making the community less wasteful and more active toward creating an eco-friendly environment, but how good of a job do we do?
To be honest, the thing that made me think about this was a letter I received from UMBC. Simple, yet unnecessary, it expressed an automated congratulations for getting a 4.00 last semester. As I looked at the paper, I thought about how many people must get this letter and how wasteful it really is. How many people got this, looked at it, thought "Kay," then threw it away? I know I did. There are so many things which seem to go out to students as well as fliers around campus promoting events and such which, really, are unnecessary.
Does this bother anyone that we, as a community, are so wasteful and put on a show of being green when, in reality, we have a ton of issues which need to be reformed? Let me know how you feel about this.
