Disappointed with the RAC...
It needs to be upgraded/better taken care of ASAP

So.. I transferred to UMBC this semester, and after going to the RAC here, I am not so impressed as many of my peers who I've talked to aren't either. At my previous school, maintaining a healthy lifestyle and working out often was emphasized just as much as studying hard and getting good grades, but I feel like at UMBC they only emphasize the latter much more. And I see this because not many people are going to the gym as they should, and I don't blame them because... in my opinion,
1. Our equipment is super out of date, rusting, or broken (yet it's still out for people to use... smh. This can be dangerous)
2. Our weight room is small, crammed, and have crappy equipment/weights too
3. There aren't as many sanitizing stations as there should be around the gym to wipe off the equipment that leads to...
4. Dirty machines
I went to the gym this morning, got on a stair climber downstairs, grabbed the handle bars, and felt that they were sticky and gross. So I got a sanitizing wipe and wiped it, only to find the entire wipe covered in something black and disgusting... I brought this to the front desk to suggest cleaning these machines better, and they were like "oh oops, the person in charge of the weight room downstairs is supposed to do it."
MAN I don't know about you but I care about my health and working out, and the RAC here just isn't that appealing and I STRONGLY feel like if we had an awesome gym, then more people would be motivated to work out! This would lead to better health, which in turn will positively impact our academics. We pay our share in fees for the recreation facilities per semester, and I personally want to get my moneys worth. I think an upgrade to at least the machines and better care of them is needed.
I feel like if enough people agree with me, then we might be able to bring this to the attention of administrative people here, because I'm not sure how much they care about this topic. So, does anyone else agree with me??? What do you think we should do?
