Building Names Equal Confusion
The first day of school always leads to a bit of confusion on campus, whether it be traffic, parking, classes or where to eat, it's bound to happen. That being said, you would think the University would do as much as possible to limit that confusion. Instead, they name buildings with the same name! For those of you looking for Engineering 027, its in the building called JUST Engineering; on the main level, right when you walk in. Not the IT/Engineering building.
I know when I came for my orientation (I am a commuter so it might be different for resident orientation) no one bothered to show us where buildings were, we were not shown where the main lecture halls were. Come the first day of school, I spent more time trying to figure out where I was, despite having a map in my hands.
UMBC, we give you thousands of dollars a year, how about trying to show us a little love in return? Either orient your students properly so they don't miss a class trying to find where it is (or at least start encouraging the students to do it on their own time) or rename our buildings, and even the rooms within (either pick "lecture hall" "number" or "room number", and on schedules stick to the name you put on the sign outside the door)!
