Sociology Student Starts Mentoring Program
Become a Mentor and gain valuable work experience.
You may have read my earlier post, written in July, about wanting to create a program that would allow for students to gain valuable work experience while helping others. Well, after two months of hard work and a whole lot of determination my project, Mentor. Educate. Create. is finally underway.
It is a mentoring based program that allows for university students to teach lessons of social and political awareness, the importance of holistic health, and even help create community impact projects. The program is two-fold: classroom discussions and one-on-one mentorship. Best of all the program allows for a great deal of flexibility, thus whatever type of experience your looking to put on your resume, we probably have a way to incorporate it into your mentoring partnership.
Who would you be mentoring? Local high school students.
So if you have an interest mentoring and incorporating your major into your work experience, here’s your chance!
All majors are encouraged to participate. If you are interested, and would like to find out more please email me @ taijat1@umbc.edu.
I hope to hear from you soon.
