He immediately launches into a very enthusiastic and very loud sales pitch ("90% off! Paintball tickets! Good for two years! Wow!") that he claims is for "student events" on campus. Of course, he has given no ID and no proof that he is actually part of any student group, which wouldn't have been such a big problem if he hadn't also "already given out all his cards."

Once he reached the end of his sales pitch, he asked if anyone was interested in buying these super great paintball tickets and proceeded to start pulling stuff out of his backpack. He was claiming that he also accepted credit and debit if you didn't have cash (this was very weird). At this point my professor said that he wasn't okay with Jeff (the paintball ticket seller) selling things in his classroom and Jeff shouted out his name and phone number before leaving.

We all started laughing and my professor decided to incorporate that experience with the class material - making good business decisions and not getting scammed, etc - and I didn't think too much of it until my classmate had another visit from Jeff in his next class. In which, apparently, Jeff made a ton of money. 

My question is: is this guy really with student events? If so, why are they allowed to disrupt class and be so weird/sketchy? 

Or did he just scam a bunch of UMBC students?
