Children in the AOK: Rant Edition.
Please be quiet or leave!

So there seems to be a group of teenagers for a sponsored event or group using the AOK Library during summer session. They are consistently loud, belligerent, and in complete disregard of the rules of the library. Case & point: I am on the 5th floor studying for an exam when a group of them sits down. They start playing music on the campus computers, arguing, and generally disrespectful. When I confronted them about how this is a quiet status of the floor I receive a prompt, "whateva." Even when they were confronted by their own counselor they were just as arrogant. I have heard from other staff and faculty concerning this matter only to find consistent accounts of their behavior.
Now I will say not all of the groups are bad. I had some good interactions with them, but it seems fairly consistent this level of rudeness with most of the other groups. This leads to the question; what will UMBC do about this problem? Am I to report this to the front desk every time someone/group steps out of line? Seriously UMBC, if people do not have enough respect for the institution, the staff, faculty, and students should they really be allowed on campus?!?
Rudeness and disregard for others is not the Retriever way, let alone the way to handle yourself in public. I have no qualms with the ejection of individuals who jeopardize others' ability to learn.
What does everyone else think?
