In recent years, building projects such as the new Performing Arts and Humanities Buildings or the Commons have featured limited outdoor seating spaces that are very popular among students. With your support, we hope to be awarded a Prove-It Grant in order to expand the availability of such outdoor working space across campus by adding tables, chairs, and umbrellas to neglected spaces. 

There are numerous areas of the UMBC campus which are vastly underutilized because they have not been made attractive and functional for students. We hope to reclaim these areas, transforming them from utility-vehicle parking lots into the comfortable, usable spaces they were intended to be. This project will help to reduce some of the crowding found at current outdoor seating areas, and will create quiet places where students can enjoy studying and relaxing outside.

On top of this, we would love to commission a mural, or murals, to beautify these spaces and add some character to our growing campus.
