Visual Arts Major advice

So I'm technically a 3rd year and I want to go into the Visual Arts program. I wish to pursue a graphic design major. I already applied once last year and failed. I'm aiming to apply again this semester.
Would it be too late? How do you like the program?
For those already in the program,or graduated from it, what advice do you have? What projects did you submit? While I'm doing this I'm also taking classes at AACC to get a WebDesign certificate over the summer.

Creating Web Pages
Photoshop: Web Graphic Design
Flash: Web Graphic Design
Adobe Acrobat
Dreamweaver: Web Graphic Design
Concept to Layout: Web Graphic Design
I also took four art classes at HCC and UMBC.
