Looking For Students to Help With Meatless Monday in Dhall
posted almost 10 years ago
As many UMBC students know, umbc vegetarians is attempting to implement "meatless mondays in the dining hall. From 11-2 p.m, vegetarian options will be featured in the dining hall. There is still meat, so yes I know not completely meatless monday, but it's a start that we have been working on with chartwells and Dining services staff. This is only in the dining hall and does not affect the commons, though Fresh Fusions is always meatless!
Meatless monday is part of a nationwide campaign, where many schools, cities, and businesses pledge to go meatless one day a week to make a better choice for our health, the environment, and animals. http://www.meatlessmonday.com/ American University, Syracuse, and John's Hopkins university are just a few of the many that have implemented meatless monday.
I've already talked to many of you at the meatless monday table and it was great to have your support and interest on the matter.
We are continually looking to improve how we approach UMBC students and how to get them on board and interested with this campaign, and I think a good way to do that is inviting more people to join us who are interested.
If you have a free 30 minutes or more and would like to help staff our table or talk us, provide feedback on meatless monday food, please do!! You can contact me by email if you are interested in helping (ande4@umbc.edu) and you can leave feed back on UMBC dining website about meatless monday options. A perk for you is that I can get you into the dining hall for free if you commit to helping with the table.
We are a fun group. We have recently bought a cow mascot, "Corny the Cow" and he can party rock and gagnam style or pose for pictures. Come by on Mondays and you can meet him or be him.
Because I know anything vegetarian needs to be commented on with 'bacon tho, plant feelings tho, canine teeth, top of food chain, MEAT, ancestors, my food shits on your food, Indians and bad hunters, I'll save some of you the trouble. :)
