Lady Shiva from the DCU
posted about 10 years ago
Name: Lady Shiva a.ka. Sandra Wu-San/Sandra Woosan
General:
- · Villain (usually) associated with Batman and the Bat-family.
- · Martial arts master/assassin for hire.
- · Specializes in beating people to death with her bare hands.
- · Arguably one of the best fighters in the DC universe.
- · Shiva and her daughter Cassandra Cain are the only people in the DCU to use a unique type of body language reading that allows them to perfectly anticipated their enemies moves to an almost super human degree.
Background:
- · In the 70's she made her first appearance in Kung-Fu Fighter as an enemy of Richard Dragon. She mistakenly believed he had killed her sister and was out for revenge.
- · The dead sister thing has stuck around along with her general attitude that she lives only for the thrill of the fight but the rest of her background has been retconed.
- · She grew up in Detroit with her sister who she practiced martial arts with until David Cain (freelance assassin/professional d-bag) meets her and decides to kill her sister because he thinks she's "holding Shiva back".
- · Shiva hunts him down, is captured by the League of Assassins, and then later agrees to have a child with Cain that he can raise to be the perfect killer.
- · An hour after she gives birth to Cassandra she beats up Cain and then runs away, determined to be reborn as Lady Shiva: Creator and Destroyer.
Affiliations:
- · Hung out with the Question in the 80's
- · Off and on with the League of Assassins.
- · Worked with the Birds of Prey for a while under a fake name.
- · Trained Tim Drake (Robin III) for a while.
- · Trained Black Canary.
- · Trained Batman in the Knightfall arc after Bane broke his back.
Other:
- · She's incredibly full of herself to the point where she considers it an honor to be killed by someone as amazing as she is.
- · Bit of a death wish: wants to do nothing but fight the strongest people that she can find. She very rarely has other motivation.
- · There's an actual arc in Batgirl Vol. 1 where she gets a cult that follows her around and worships her as the literal incarnation of the God Shiva because she's just that cool.
