Summer check-in today...
Hopefully it's not a sign of what's to come.

I am looking forward to a productive summer session at UMBC and starting grad school. Not sure why there is always an issue or glitch with every business transaction I must conduct on campus(?) I could not check-in online for Res Life because the database had not been updated with the most recent data from UHS, so I waited patiently while the Res Life employee just left me there like I was supposed to know what to do next. When I approached to ask if everything had been worked out, I got straight attitude. When it comes down to it, the employee came back to the check-in table where I was still waiting and she should not have taken the next student in line--I waited in line just like everyone else. I have had many struggles with various offices on campus trying to get situations that were not my error corrected (admissions, 11-wk wait for financial aid decision, and now res life, etc.) and I'm running low on patience. If it was not for the IS graduate program I have enrolled in, I would have taken my money elsewhere to attend graduate school. Let's hope this latest incident is not a sign of things to come during my graduate studies at UMBC. I remain hopeful for a more pleasant experience (than the past five months of pure stress) once classes begin. I would like to thank the employee that apologized for the chaos during my check-in. There are so many wonderful things about UMBC, and the unhelpfulness and bad attitudes I have encountered are disconcerting.
