Hey everyone. I just got out of a bad housing situation just a month ago, and it seems that the landlord is still advertising in this area and on UMBC affiliated sites.
First off, she made my fiance and I pay a $200 "deposit" when moving in and spoke to us about needing it immediately. This is where we should have gotten out immediately. A landlord cannot spend your security deposit.

Second, there is no AC in the house and she complains about turning on heat in the winter or taking a hot shower. The rent advertised includes all utilities included, but we "can't use the utilities." That started an argument and thank god my fiance is a studying attorney.
Third, there is a drug problem in that house.
Fourth, there have been multiple instances of people being in our room when we were not there. I had to install multiple locks on the door because of this.
Fifth, she tried kicking out another tenant because they were sitting in the screened-in porch, which was accessible according to the verbal agreement she makes. Literally, officers had to come out to the property to get her to settle down with the tenant.
Sixth, there was no written contract or statements.
Seventh, when we finally left, she would not refund our security deposit and we literally had to threaten legal action against her if we did not receive our security deposit by the legal date.
Sorry if this sounded like a rant, but this person should not be allowed to rent out to people and I don't want anyone else having to go through the hell of living there like we had to. This needs to be known by anyone searching for housing near campus.
The address is 600 Gun Road, Halethorpe (Catonsville), MD 21227. I advise everyone to avoid this landlord and property.
