[com] Comics and Other Media is Official!
Hey everyone! Comics and Other Media is finally recognized!
There will be comics at every [com] group meeting. Also, we already have a few local artists that would love to come in and talk. If you are a Visual Arts Major you will probably love this group!! It isn't all about comics, there will be a lot to learn! But enough about that. What would you all like to see?
=========== [com] Ideas ==========
What type of events, movies, comics, etc. do you want to see at [com]?
Things we are thinking about:
- Comic-Book Contest: Best submissions sent to Comic Store to be reviewed.
- Guest Speakers: Local Artists from on and off campus to share tips.
- Watch and review award winning movies.
- Super Hero Tournament Brackets – Prizes
- Talk about newest issues or series, movies and comics.
- Possibly have Marathons
- UMBC’s own Comi-com!
- Cosplay Parties
- Game Nights
- Possible fundraisers for Otakon or Comicon
We are also going to need a lot of help, so please email Krout1 if you’d like
to become an officer and help us put these amazing events together!
What day works for you?
--- Side Notes ---Also, last Saturday was Free Comic Book Day and it was amazing. I was first in line at Collectors Corner and during the interview I gave a shout out to UMBC and [com]. Visiting both Collectors Corner and Cosmic Comix, I bought a ton of books and spent approximately $100 at both stores to support them, as well as providing entertainment for the group. There are 800+ comics and four Munchkin games to share with the group.
Mission Statement:
"To provide comics and show other medias, listed below, to educate techniques of both visual and auditory mediums in a peaceful learning environment. Involving trips to comic stores, events, and inviting relevant guest speakers from off campus and on campus. Medias: Comics, T.V. Series, Movies, Cartoons, and Manga. Possible small group productions of comics or video shorts."
Medias: Comics, T.V. Series, Movies, Cartoons, and Manga."
*[com] will also have many different types of comics for both women and men. There will be a lot of starter issue comics so can dive right in if you are new to the whole comic book thing.
