I really tried with the tagline coming up with Catchy things is difficult for me.
Hello Everyone,
My name is Sandra Wanjiru Waithaka I am a freshman and currently an SGA Senator. I am double majoring in Political Science and Global Studies. I am also a commuter but I stay on campus often. I am currently a member of the Student Alumni Association, as well as the Political Council of Majors. I helped plan the past event that happened Sweeten Up Your Network which gave students a chance to connect with alums of all majors.I work at the Alumni house and I really like chocolate pretzels. I joined the SGA Senate the beginning of this semester thus I have had a chance to understand the workings within the SGA. However my first semester was a chance for me to find my footings within UMBC. I really was unsure of where I wanted to be within UMBC and I was sitting back and not being involved. However after going to STRiVE I decided I wanted to make UMBC mine. I wanted to build my experience and the way I am planning/currently doing this is by being a part of Senate. As I mentioned before I am commuter. Commuters are a big part of UMBC and I feel like its important for them to have a say within Senate when it comes to initiatives.I also mentioned that I stay on campus a lot (the desk staff of patapsco knows me) so I also talk to residential students and thus I am not just focusing on one group,I am open to all.
I really like to talk, I love people, I am bluntly honest and I like to learn. The one thing I want people to know is that I want to hear what you have to say. Yes I talk but I also listen.
Platform- I want to get commuters a bit more involved in Campus, I don't want UMBC to be just a bus stop for commuters but I want them to feel as at home as I do when I stay on campus.
- I want a chance to unite UMBC. I talk to anyone, literally. I am that person that walks up to a random person to have a conversation. We have diversity in UMBC but not unity. I want to try and break those barriers by encouraging collaboration among student organizations. *if you want to hear more about this just ask*
OK DONE with talking.. ask questions and I will answer to my best ability without too much chatter.
