Hey everyone,
-Engage more of the student body in UMBC affairs, and improve involvement
- Starting/Supporting a new cause known as "#LoveYourself", which encourages and promotes love for oneself, and appreciating your life.
I am Atib Siddiqui, a junior here at UMBC.
I'm a triple major in MCS, Sociology, and Political Science, slated to graduate in Spring 2015.
I have been involved in SGA for the past 2 years now, ranging in roles from department member to my most recent role, Director of Public Relations for SOS(Student Org Support) team.
I've had my fair share of accomplishments, such as Dine&Discuss, which used to be a bi-weekly Friday forum hosted by me and Sahand Yazdanyar, where we discussed topics important to the UMBC student body with the student body.
Most recently, I helped co-sponsor and plan the Pre-Rac In Black Cookout event, a mini Organization festival with food and prizes. The purpose of the event was for students to enjoy good food while meeting different student orgs and learning about them, and then attending the Rac In Black basketball game for the UMBC Men's Basketball team.
My platform is fairly simple. I'm pursuing realistic goals which can be accomplished once I am elected as Senator of the UMBC SGA.
Platform:
-Improve the culture/increase knowledge about Mental Illness issues.
-Improve the culture/increase knowledge about Mental Illness issues.
-Engage more of the student body in UMBC affairs, and improve involvement
- Starting/Supporting a new cause known as "#LoveYourself", which encourages and promotes love for oneself, and appreciating your life.
-Create a bridge between UMBC Athletics and Student Orgs and form a quid pro quo relationship between them.
-Planning tailgates.
