Help build the first student-powered textbook database
Track textbook usage nationwide for free. Student start-up.
posted over 13 years ago
Ever wondered which other schools are using the same textbook the bookstore refuses to buy back from you?
My start-up, Flustard.com (as in flustered), has developed a community tool that is the first of its kind. It is a crowd-sourced, more specifically student-sourced textbook database called the Bookbase. The goal of this tool is to become a resource to empower students with the knowledge that just because our campus has stopped using a textbook, doesn't mean every other campus has too.
We can use the Bookbase to take back the control of deciding how much our textbooks are worth.
Using the Bookbase you will be able to track textbook usage nationwide, by campus, by subject, and by semester. With this knowledge you will be better able to price your textbooks should you chose to sell them. Gauge the demand, price it, sell it. Additionally, the Bookbase has been integrated into Flustard such that you can you can sell or rent your textbook directly from it (coming soon).
The Bookbase is only as good as what we make it. If you have time, please register and add your textbooks. Spread the word. Paw. Flustard is college student only, so only use your college email for registration (.edu).
