When I first registered to vote, I registered under Independent. Once the elections started rolling around however, I changed my political affiliation so that I could vote in the primaries (Because let's be real, what 3rd party ever has a chance?). Regardless, the more I view the two parties playing politics, the more I realize that their views are too diverse. How can the far right and far left be associated with the center-right and center-left? Sometimes they are radically different. For many of us, our views rest somewhere balanced in the middle. Recently I've come across The Centrist Project and The Centrist Party, and they've got me thinking, what does it take to create a 3rd party that the media will take seriously? One that can participate in debates, and find legitimate funding. For starters, such a party would need large-scale public support. How interested would you be in joining a Centrist Party, assuming it was large enough to realistically approach elections?
