School's art program is...
So now grades would interpret how well I would do in the visual arts program in umbc rather than the portfolio itself? Honestly, my mom worked her ass off just to transfer me to that school for me to pursue my choice career as a video game artist. The first two times I fell flat on my face (or so they said). So I’ve waited, drew, painted, sketched, and thought and practiced very hard for two years. To this date, after submitting my choice works and kept me waiting for three weeks (so nerve-wracking I couldn’t sleep for two days). I got this today and this all of what the committee had to say:
The portfolio submitted and grades received in previous foundation courses ART210 and ART211 (in particular) do not indicate success in our program.
You know I’ve been hearing from other art students, who also happen to be my past classmates, tell me that the new student who are accepted into that program aren’t all that great. So you mean to tell me that you would rather bring someone with zero talent rather than someone who strained himself of his artistic ability and who had sacrificed a number of hours needing to sleep constantly shows how much potential he has to be in there, you just reject him?
That’s fine, maybe that art program is a sham. A mediocre program is filled with students who have that holier-than-thou attitude that looks down anyone else who may or may not have works that could one day challenge the former. I can compare this to Vector Marketing: The teachers are like knives, which both are very resourceful for different situations but at the same time very expensive. At least I’m very grateful towards my teachers, I even gave one of them a positive review on ratemyprofessor.com.
Truth of the matter is, this is very heart-breaking. But my heart has been broken many times before, so there is no use for to cry over this. Even if it was my third and last time to submit my work.
The committee wouldn’t know excellent imagery even if it bit them in their asses.
