Obama's State of the Union Address
What is your take on it?

Alright, so we all know that not everything we hear on these things is 100% true of course. Nevertheless, based on what I heard there may still be some glimmer of hope, despite how things have taken a turn for the worse lately.
What stood out for me are the following things:
- The number of new jobs. Sure, I'm willing to bet that it wasn't exactly 8 million, but even so, that is a sign of progress. Our economy still needs time to recover but at least it is a step in the right direction.
- Ok, so Obamacare as a whole did have some issues, but hey, it got a lot more Americans signed up for insurance at least. As to the quality of it, I don't know and again, I'm sure it isn't exactly the number stated in the address (8 million), but it is something. Granted, I think we should have just gone to a single payer system but oh well, can't have everything.
- At least we finally are doing something about the environment by reducing carbon emissions by a significant amount. More needs to be done in order to mitigate climate change though of course, but it is better than nothing.
- So what was all this talk about increased government spending? Seems the deficit has gone down? Well, again, I'm sure it is probably not exactly half as the address stated, but I would have thought they were going up if we had done so much more government spending.
- While we still need to look at other ways to reduce dependence on foreign oil, it is good that some of our government policies have worked to get our domestic oil product higher than foreign imports.
What do you guys think?
