Waitlist class time same as enrolled class time?

I am enrolled in a psych class on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10-11:15. At that same time, I'm waitlisted for an english class that I really want to take. So today, I went to my english class to see if I could enroll in that one instead. A couple people didn't show up but apparently they haven't dropped the class. I'm number 1 on the waitlist for this english class but I'm also enrolled in the psych class so I was wondering if this will affect whether or not I get moved into the english class if someone drops it. I don't want to drop the psych class because in the event that I can't get into the english class, I need to make sure I have enough credits to be considered a full time student and there aren't many other classes I can take that fit my schedule.
Should I just drop my psych class and hope that I'll be moved into the English class or is it okay if I keep my psych class and see if I get moved into the english class? And if I can keep my psych class and stay on the waitlist for english at the same time, how will the system know whether to enroll me in English and kick me out of Psych or will it alert me and have me manually swap them?

In contrast, I will offer that teachers can certainly look up your schedule and see that you are double booked. I do this all the time. To the extent that I have control over my sections, I give preference to people who actually have room in their schedule to take my class.
Sign up for the class you really want, and drop the other one.
