Is it too much to ask for some common courtesy during lunch?
Free hour" does not mean "free-for-all.

Honestly, for the second time in less than a week, the table I staked out for myself during free hour has was hijacked by other students. Last week, my backpack and genetics textbook were pushed closer to the wall and the end of the table near the aisle was occupied by other students when I returned with my warmed-up lunch. I had to squeeze myself in to sit down to eat my food. I could live with that, at least I still had a space. Today was even worse: I picked out a table near an outlet because both my laptop and cell phone were dead. I left to run down and get a soda from the Yum Shoppe. I come back and four people are sitting at my table, handling food over my orgo textbook, with no place left for me to sit at all. I ended up wandering the campus for over forty minutes looking to a place to eat that had an outlet nearby, which pissed me off because my free hour is sacred: it's for enjoying my lunch and watching Doctor Who (which I was unable to watch as a result of all this).
I don't know about most people, but when I see a hoodie or a backpack or a textbook at a table, I don't sit there. I can see that someone is trying to save that table for themselves. Why don't other people have the same consideration? I know that free hour is crazy at the Commons, but is it so hard to be considerate? Let me get something straight, I don't mind sharing a table with someone else. But that person should ask me first. They shouldn't just move in and shove my stuff over. If they had asked, I wouldn't have had any problem with sharing. Just my two cents.
Sorry for ranting, but this really pissed me off. Has anyone else ever had an experience like this?
