Stink Bugs!
Your Friendly Crawling Companions
posted almost 11 years ago
So, I've seen a bunch of dead (and immobile live) stink bugs as I walked around campus. It seems rather late for these insects to start retreating inside of our buildings or attempting to do so. Anyways, I collected some of these for one of my classes.. and boy do they stink! (Well, I killed the ones I have a la freezer, and then they released rather smelly chemicals)
Sometimes, the stink bugs are on the ground. Sometimes they're on walls or doors. Sometimes they're inside buildings. Sometimes they're dead on the floors. And sometimes they're accompanied by camel crickets. Boy are things going to be comfy on campus.
Poll Question: Have you encountered stink bugs this semester, live or dead?
Let's discuss stink bugs! What to do and not to do when encountering stinkbugs, why the heck I brought this topic up, or perhaps what kinds of stinkbugs you have encountered... there is plenty to discuss.
Above: This is one of the stink bugs I have encountered - in front of the Biology building. It has a relatively small head, white markings, and round margins.
