Math 301 vs 302
Need suggestions from math majors
posted about 11 years ago
I'm a math major currently taking math 301, pretty much struggling like everyone else I guess. Never had this much problem in passing other math courses (have A's & B's in previous math classes). I'm looking to register for 302 next spring. Need suggestions from ones who have taken 302, any of your thoughts will be kindly appreciated. How did you felt about 302 comparing 301? easy/tough? Did it required more work and struggle to pass 302 comparing 301? Thanks

302 is very similar to 301, and I personally found it a bit boring because it's a lot of the same topics, just generalized to spaces other than the real line. You'll find yourself doing a lot of the same proofs (ex: "Prove that this function is continuous", "Prove that this space is compact", etc), just with different definitions that give different results sometimes, but largely with the same logic. I think I'd say it took less work for me than 301 did, but I didn't really find 301 to be very taxing either.
