Welcome
Welcome to the Student Academic Network on myUMBC. The purpose of the Student Academic Network, or ‘SAN’, is to give UMBC students a means of networking with other students to ask questions, address other students’ needs and questions, and build discussions about academic and student life at UMBC. Our hope is that this network will empower students to find and develop their passions through an enriched and meaningful academic experience.
Rules and Guidelines
Below are four easy rules and guidelines that you should keep in mind when using SAN. Please read and follow them in posting and responding to discussions and media feeds.
When you post a discussion, please filter it into the appropriate pre-determined categories that best fits your discussion post (Classes/Professor, Misc Questions, Research, Study Groups, Textbooks).
This is an open network for discussion. All students, faculty, and administrators have access to view and post in SAN. It is our vision that faculty and administrators will be active in interacting with students to provide sound advice from their perspective.
Be respectful in posting and responding to discussion and media posts. Networking and discussion that is proactive and constructive best serves the needs of all users.
Any statements given in SAN from users in discussion feeds may not be the official policy of UMBC. If you would like to know the official UMBC policy, contact the appropriate UMBC office (i.e. Office of Undergraduate Education, Bursar’s Office, Office of Academic and Pre-Professional Advising).
Use SAN to the utmost benefit of improving yours and other students’ academic and social life here at UMBC. This is the first 24-hr active site for students across campus to interact with one another and ask questions.
If you have any questions/comments/concerns/suggestions, please e-mail us at umbcOAA@gmail.com and we’ll be happy to respond. Good luck in classes and let’s get that diploma!
