Studying tips

Studying is an art all to itself. It can easily be the most vital part of your out-of-class time.
When studying, make sure to be in a comfortable environment that enhances focus. You usually want to avoid a lot of stimuli (ie noise, people, flashy lights).
A great way to get through material that is either boring you to death or seems beyond your comprehension is to find study groups.
Go on over to the "Study Group" section of SAN and see if there is a study group of your interest already formed. If not, make your own new thread and see if there are more people that would be interested.
Remember, the library can be your best friend. Explore it if you need to. There are so many places in our AOK UMBC library to focus. NOTE: There is a basement!
Check our tutorial centers as well! There is a well-known Chem Center and a lesser-known Bio Center. There is also the Learning Resource Center and the Writing and Math Centers (Library).
Don't be afraid to ask your professors/teachers/lecturers about topics that are being covered in class. They will usually be happy to help you understand the material better. Plus, it never hurts to get to know your professors. They can be a great way to network.
Good luck!
