CHOSEN Film Screening
The 5 Korean Americans who ran for Congress in 2020
Dr. Kyung-Eun Yoon (Assistant Professor, Coordinator of Korean, Dept of Modern Languages, Linguistics, and Intercultural Communication) is hosting a screening of the film, “CHOSEN” for the UMBC community!
Joseph Juhn is a lawyer-turned-filmmaker with passion for diasporic narratives. His latest documentary, "CHOSEN", sheds light on the struggles and triumphs of five Korean Americans who ran for US Congress in 2020, and has been praised by audiences and critics alike since its release in Korean theaters in 2022.
Take-away snacks from H-Mart will be provided!
This event is supported by the Global Asias Initiative Course Expansion Grant.
Congratulations to Dr. Mesut Eryigit. He is now a faculty member at Balikesir University in Turkey. Dr. Eryigit was a post-doctoral fellow funded by Tubitak (The Scientific and Technological Research Institution of Turkey) with Dr. Özgür Çapraz from December 2023 through November 2024. The experience gained as a post-doc at UMBC was a tremendous asset for Dr. Eryigit as he search for his academic position.

About WAGs: WAGs are small, voluntary groups of graduate students (3-8 participants) who commit to writing regularly by setting goals and holding each other accountable. These groups meet weekly for 10-12 weeks, either in person or online, to track progress and develop sustainable writing habits. The kickoff meeting will introduce WAGs, provide guidance on setting up a group, and offer resources to help participants succeed.

Week 5 of Tabletop Gaming Club
March Madness, ANCS Collab, and Midterm Season
Welcome to Week 5 of Tabletop Gaming Club!!
This week we are hosting our fourth collab event with the Ancient Studies Club!! It will be an Ancient-Egypt themed one shot with a focus on the historical setting and trials of the afterlife. This event will be held on Friday March 14th from 12-5 pm in SOND 105. Please DM me through our club's discord if you are interested in playing, as we only have 18 open slots for players at this event split between 3 DMs including myself and two fantastic DMs from club. I hope to see you guys there!
We also have our usual club meetings from 7-10 pm in ILSB 118 on Tuesday and Thursday. This will be Week 2 of our March Madness event. Be sure to come on down and get some points for your team, since at the end of March, the team with the highest points gets first dibs at our table of prizes for the event!
Especially in the midst of midterms and projects due before Spring Break, we hope everyone is taking care of their mental health and giving their brains a chance to rest. And what better way to calm the nerves than a casual game or two?
