What does the Associate Director of Special Projects & Flagship Initiatives, Prove It! do?

The Associate Director of Special Projects & Flagship Initiatives, Prove It! is responsible for implementing SGA's annual idea competition, Prove It! This flagship initiative awards up to $10,000 to student groups that are seeking to to bring positive change to campus. The Associate Director will work with campus administrators to create a vetting process that determines the practicality of the submitted initiatives, administer the Prove It! election, determine how the program can be improved, and develop plans to sustain this initiative for the foreseeable future.

    What are the time commitments for the Associate Director of Special Projects & Flagship Initiatives, Prove It!?

The regular time commitments of the Director of Special Projects & Flagship Initiatives greatly vary. During the Fall semester, the Associate Director will spend time working with administrators about how Prove It! can change and be improved upon, and will also identify students/student groups that may be interested in submitting a proposal to Prove It! During Spring semester, the Associate Director should expect a heavy work flow as this is the peak time for Prove It! - the submission of applications, the screening process, the election, and the announcement of the winner. However, SGA work should not get in the way of self-care time and studying for your classes - you come first!

    What do you get in return as the Associate Director of Special Projects & Flagship Initiatives, Prove It!?

This is the perfect opportunity to make your mark on the UMBC community, and work with students, faculty, staff, and administrators to make meaningful change for years to come. This is an excellent venue to work on project management skills, strategic and big-picture thinking, while following through on a project.

How do I apply to be the Coordinator of Social Media & Web Development, or any other positions in SGA?

Easy! Go to sga.umbc.edu/apply and click on the position you are interested in applying for. Applications are due on Friday, August 17th at 5pm.

We really prefer a clean environment. We're looking for a range where a person would pay like 300ish, plus a security deposit. We're also looking for a location near UMBC, somewhere either arbutus, halethorpe, or elkridge.
Dr. Lowell Groninger, Associate Professor Emeritus of Psychology, passed away on July 14.

Lowell completed his B.A. and Ph.D. in Psychology at the University of Illinois before joining the UMBC faculty in 1968. An expert in cognitive and experimental psychology, Lowell completed important studies on the use of imagery as a mnemonic device, the influence of autobiographical reference in memories, and memory for faces and names. Lowell also collaborated on the development and standardization of neuropsychological assessment instruments, including the Brief Visuospatial Memory Test and the Hopkins Verbal Learning Test. After 43 years of dedicated service, Lowell retired from the UMBC Psychology Department in 2011, and continued to teach Cognitive Psychology on a part-time basis for a number of years after that.

Improving collaboration and dissemination through consortia arrangements;
