    <p><span>This semester Event &amp; Conference Services is rolling out a series of Event Planning Roundtables!  We wanted to provide a space where student organizations with similar missions and interests can come together to plan and execute events for the Spring 2020 semester based on the timeline for SGA Finance Board budget proposals in tandem with the Large Scale Event Planning Timeline. This may seem like planning too early but please keep in mind that Spring 2020 budgets are due in October. </span></p>

    <p><span>The dates are: </span></p>
    <ul>
    <li><p><span>Hobbie &amp; Intellectual Sports- Monday, September 16th 5 PM- 7 PM in Commons 329 </span></p></li>
    <li><p><span>Academic/ Departmental, Career/ Professional, &amp; Honors Societies- Tuesday, September 17th 5 PM- 7 PM in Commons Skylight Room </span></p></li>
    <li><p><span>Fraternities/ Sororities, Service, and Political- Wednesday, September 18th 5 PM- 7 PM in Commons Skylight Room </span></p></li>
    <li><p><span>Cultural/ Ethnic- Thursday, September 19th 5 PM- 7 PM in Commons Skylight Room </span></p></li>
    <li><p><span>Arts, Performance, and Media- Monday, September 23rd 5 PM- 7 PM in Commons 331 </span></p></li>

    <p><span>Sign-ups will close on Sunday, September 15th at 11:59 PM, space is limited so act fast! The sign up link is below. Also, y</span><span>ou do not have to be a scheduler to attend! Anyone involved with the planning process is encouraged to come. </span><span>Please only sign up for the date that corresponds with your organization type, if you do not you will be politely reassigned. It is encouraged that at least three but no more than six leaders from your organization attend. If all can not attend please come anyway! A full dinner will be served, so get excited!</span></p>

    <p><strong><span>Fred</span> L. Pincus</strong>, Emeritus Professor of Sociology, will read from his forthcoming memoir, <em>Confessions of a Radical Sociologist</em>, on Thursday November 21 at 4pm in the AOK Library Gallery on UMBC's campus. </p>
    <p>Professor Pincus came to UMBC as an instructor in the turbulent year of 1968 and was involved in the movements to end the Vietnam War and to oppose racism on and off campus.  </p>
    <p>He helped build the Sociology and Anthropology Department in the 1970s and was also a founding faculty member of the Language, Literacy and Culture PhD Program. </p>
    <p>Christine Mallinson, Professor of Language, Literacy and Culture and Director of the Center for Social Science Scholarship, will serve as emcee. </p>
    <p>Sponsored by the Center for Social Science Scholarship, the Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Health Administration and Policy, and the Language, Literacy &amp; Culture Program.</p>
