]]>]]>The Regional Math Science Center at Frostburg State University, an Upward Bound Math Science program for students in Maryland, is search for summer staff for our 2-, 3-, and 5-week research programs. We are searching for a summer staff that enjoys working with high school students with math/science career aspirations to help them grow both academically and socially as they prepare to enroll in college after high school graduation. I have attached job advertisements for our three available summer positions: Head Resident, Science Teachers, and Tutor Counselors. In a time of profound civic challenges, can higher education be a catalyst for a democratic awakening? Harry Boyte, Senior Scholar in Public Work Philosophy, Sabo Center for Democracy and Citizenship, Augsburg University, will share evidence that it can be, including pioneering initiatives at UMBC and other institutions that are demonstrating the viability of a politics of public work that bridges divides and develops civic agency. Boyte also will discuss his new book Awakening Democracy Through Public Work: Pedagogies of Empowerment.

Are you a first-generation low-income college student or member of a racial or ethnic group underrepresented in graduate education?
If so, you may be eligible to apply for the UMBC McNair Scholars Program!
Although the program is focused on rising sophomores and juniors, we will consider rising seniors interested in pursuing their Ph.D. who are currently in or have conducted research opportunity and need further support in their graduate school preparation process. Hence, they must be enrolling in graduate school Fall 2020.
There are a number of benefits if selected such as faculty mentoring, hands-on guidance and navigation through the graduate school application process, first-hand exposure to individuals who have earned Ph.D.’s in your field of study, summer and academic year research funding, and the opportunity to attend research conferences (fully funded).
