The Maryland Public Service Scholars (MPSS) programs exist to empower individuals in our state to become impactful leaders in the government and nonprofit sectors. Through dynamic partnerships and programs emphasizing exploration, exposure, experience, and elevation, MPSS equips young leaders with the technical skills, knowledge, and community-centered mindset to drive meaningful, equity-focused change.

Our four programs—GSIP (Government Service Internship Program), SNLP (Social and Nonprofit Leadership Program), MDOT (Maryland Department of Transportation Fellowship), and LAW (Legal Advocacy and Workforce Program)—offer a comprehensive pathway for students who live or go to school in Maryland to build impactful careers in public service through a PAID summer fellowship opportunity.

It's A Great Day To Be A Retriever!

I am writing to you in celebration of our Women's Volleyball program. After winning the America East Championship on November 22, our Retrievers will travel to the University of Pittsburgh to compete in the 2025 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Tournament.

On behalf of our entire Athletic Department, I'd like to invite the campus community over to Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena to help us send the team off in style. Join us around 1:15 p.m. today on the front plaza of the arena, as the team loads up the bus and leaves campus to represent our great university on a national stage.

The Retrievers will take on the nation's fourth-ranked team, the Pitt Panthers, at 6:30 p.m. on Friday evening. For those interested in watching the game, you are also welcome to join Athletics in the University Commons Sports Zone for a watch party beginning at 6 p.m.

December 3 is the UN International Day of Persons with Disabilities, honoring the United Nation's commitment for promoting the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities - more than 1 billion people worldwide are in this demographic, the world's largest minority. The day raises awareness of the political, economic, social and cultural aspects of disability that affects people around the world.

The theme for 2025 is: Fostering Disability-Inclusive Societies for Advancing Social Progress, reaffirming the commitment to building a just, inclusive and equitable world.  The theme the important role that persons with disabilities play in creating a more inclusive and accessible world for all. It also emphasizes the importance of the participation of persons with disabilities in decision-making processes that affect their lives.
