WMBC Election Nominations

Positions:

General Manager

Supreme Commander in Chief. This person is responsible for all aspects of WMBC.

From the WMBC Constitution:

"The General Manager (GM) will head all station and executive board meetings. The GM has the sole authority to appoint or to dismiss executive officers from their executive position at any time and for any reason. The GM will deal with day-to-day station operations, and all administrative affairs, and has the sole authority to discuss sation affairs with the administration of UMBC. The GM should attempt to keep WMBC in good standing with the administration, and, when problems may arise at WMBC, any decision handed down by the GM is final. All requests for WMBC sponsorship of events, WMBC procurement requests, and any administrative requests must be reviewed, and where appropriate, signed by the GM. ANy disagreements between the GM and AGM, or other executive or non-executive members, shall be resolved by the parties involved; however, any and all decisions made by the GM are final. Position of GM may not be held simultaneously with Assistant General Manager, Chief Engineer, or Head Music Director."

Assistant General Manager

A nearly equally important position, as one person cannot run WMBC by themselves. (Trust me, I've seen people try.) Assists the general manager with all aspects of WMBC, and acts as the commanding officer in the absence of the GM.

"The Assistant General Manager (AGM) will assist the GM in any and all station meetings and activities, whenever required. The primary function of the AGM is to assist the GM in day-to-day station maintenance and operations, including, but not limited to, DJ training and station security. In the event the GM becomes incapacitated, cannot, or will not perform his/her duties, the AGM will assume the position of GM, and a new AGM will be appointed from the present executive board. Position of AGM cannot be held simultaneously with GM, Chief Engineer, or Head Music Director."

Treasurer

In charge of aiding with and logging of financial transactions. Generally they're supposed to help us make the smartest purchasing decisions possible and make sure we don't do anything stupid with our money.

"The Managing Business Director (MBD) will be held responsible for assisting in securing WMBC sponsorships and underwriting. Each year, with the assistance of the GM and/or AGM, the MBD will create and submit a budget to the SGA for the finances of the upcoming year. In the event a DJ guarantees a sponsorship to WMBC, the MBD will finalize all required information, and perform all billing arrangements."

Secretary

In charge of taking the minutes of each meeting, and organizing the official documents of WMBC (note: the importance of this position isn't always immediately apparent, and the secretary will probably not see the true effects of their work during their term. But when you're trying to search through decades of an organization's history, especially one such as this, it becomes immediately apparent how important this is.)

"The Secretary will be responsible for recording organizational occurrences of WMBC, both executive and operational. This includes the documentation of meetings held by the executive and operations board, along with all general meetings. The Secretary will also be responsible for keeping record of and organizing official WMBC documents such as DJ contracts, receipts, forms , etc. The Secretary will receive copies of all documentation WMBC collects. This means any documents created during authorized business done by the WMBC Executive or Operations Board and General Members with any outside party. The Secretary will be responsible for keeping an official record along with general records. All items which make the Secretary's Official Records are considered final and are binding."
