The Shattuck Family Internship Program for Entrepreneurship Innovation
and Social Change prepares UMBC students for the rigors and rewards of
entrepreneurship and social innovation. This program funds students from diverse backgrounds in mentored
internships to better prepare them to launch for-profit ventures or
nonprofits.
Internships last one semester (15 weeks) and students will work on
average, 8 to 10 hours per week. Students receive a stipend of $2,000
toward their compensation.

Why Participate?
- Earn a stipend of $2,000 plus an opportunity to potentially earn credit
- Gain valuable experience in your career field by interning 120 hours over the course of the semester (8-10 hours per week)

- Apply classroom knowledge in a realistic work environment and apply lessons learned in the workplace to academic coursework

Over the weekend the Division of Information Technology has gotten reports of several job scams sent to users by email. These scams promise good pay for minimal effort, usually at home on your own schedule. The scams will ask for your information, including:
name and full address
cell phone number and personal email address
in some cases your resume
banking or credit card information
passport information and/or social security number (SSN)
This information can be used to impersonate you by opening credit in your name, or simply to drain the finances from your current accounts. Users have also reported fake invoices from well known companies, as well as check or money order scams; both meant to trick people to send money directly to the scammers.
If you have received any suspicious emails asking for your personal information, even from someone appearing to be affiliated with UMBC, do not respond. Send the message to security@umbc.edu. We will help to verify the legitimacy of these messages.

"During my internship at Technuf, LLC as a Software Engineer and Data Science Intern, I had the opportunity to work on various tasks and responsibilities that contributed to the company's mission critical business needs. Technuf is a Maryland-based company known for its expertise in providing leading-edge technologies and highly skilled professionals.
On a day-to-day basis, I was actively involved in data analysis tasks, which included gathering, cleaning, and analyzing large datasets to extract meaningful insights. This required me to utilize my knowledge of data science techniques and programming languages such as Python. I worked closely with the team to identify patterns, trends, and correlations in the data, enabling the organization to make informed decisions based on the findings.
Another important aspect of my role was software testing. I was responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of the software developed by the team. This involved creating test plans, executing test cases, and identifying and reporting any bugs or issues that arose during the testing process. By performing thorough testing, I contributed to the overall improvement of the software's functionality and user experience. During our conversation, I further discussed my passion for the field and highlighted my abilities and skills relevant to the position. Applications are now being accepted for the Montgomery CountyAutism Hiring Program’s summer 2023 cohort with an application deadline of May 15, 2023. The session will run from June – August 2023.
The Autism Hiring Program was created by the Howard County Autism Society in 2020 to advance workplace neurodiversity and acceptance, connecting businesses to an untapped workforce of skilled Autistic adults and targeting jobseekers not supported by existing systems. Now in its third year, the program serves candidates and employers in Maryland with placements in professions that include IT, CyberSecurity, Retail, Administrative, Engineering, Science, Mathematics, Entertainment, Recreation, Historic, Warehouse among others.
With support from WorkSource Montgomery’s Workforce Recovery Network 2.0 grant, the program has expanded this year to serve Autistic candidates living in Montgomery County, MD.
The ideal candidate for this program is someone who comes to it with an open mind, is committed to their own success, and whose ultimate goal is to find and sustain meaningful employment. Other requirements:
Support for the program has been provided by WorkSource Montgomery, Arbor Dog Foundation and many generous individual and corporate donors. Organizational partners include Accessible Resources for Independence and WorkSource Montgomery.
