The UMBC Career Center works very hard to ensure that job postings in Handshake are legitimate positions, and Handshake has shown to be a very reliable source to find great opportunities. However, scammers are becoming more and more creative and they are circumventing Handshake.

Scott Resource Group, a well-known university recruitment consulting firm, is partnering with a group of selected career centers nationwide, including UMBC, to conduct an important student recruiting research project. 

The findings of this study will inform our office on the most effective ways for employers to engage with students – and this is your opportunity to contribute your anonymous assessment of your recruiting expectations and experiences this semester. 

The survey, ‘Recruiting Engagement 2023’, comprises both quantitative ratings and a few open-ended text questions, and the findings will be invaluable to those of us in the profession as we continue to determine the way forward for early talent recruiting – There are a lot of competing narratives about students’ preferences, and this is your opportunity to weigh in on what matters to you, and the impact of your engagement with employers on your job search.
