<Title>Graduate Student Support Group</Title>
<Tagline>Grad students have unique challenges that RIH can support.</Tagline>

    <div class="html-content"><span>Pursuing a graduate degree/Ph.D. can be one of the most challenging phases in an individual's academic career. The road to earning the diploma can be long and lonely. The Graduate Student support group is composed of graduate/Ph.D. students who want to come together to share the challenges and struggles of their academic experience. The group will focus on discussing ways to balance school &amp; personal life, relationships with advisers and peers, and how to deal with the stress and anxiety of academic pressures while defining and pursuing career goals.</span><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>This group meets virtually on Thursdays from 3 - 4:15 p.m. beginning September 26. </span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>Due to licensure laws, all students must be located in the state of Maryland during the group to participate.</span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><p><span>The first step to joining any group is to complete an Initial Consultation appointment. <Title>Reflecting Retriever: Undergraduate Student Process Group</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><span>This group provides a safe, confidential space for students to find a sense of connection, shared understanding, and an opportunity to learn from others' experiences. Members will also learn how to make new relationships and/or improve existing ones. The goal is for members to gain greater self-knowledge and develop more meaningful connections with friends, family, partners, etc. The group requires a semester-long commitment.</span><div><span><br></span><div><span>Group meets Wednesdays from 1 - 2:30 p.m. beginning September 25.</span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><p><span>The first step to joining any group is to complete an Initial Consultation appointment.     <div class="html-content"><span>Time is running out for you to waive student health insurance coverage!</span><div><br></div><div>If you have an insurance plan through your job, your parents, or Medicaid and you don't want UMBC's health coverage, make sure to complete your insurance waiver and upload a copy of your insurance card to the Retriever Care Portal by <strong>Sun</strong><strong>day, September 15th</strong>.</div><div><br></div><div>Begin by accessing your <a href="http://myretrievercare.umbc.edu/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">RetrieverCare portal</a>.  Once you've completed the waiver and uploaded your insurance card, it will take the Insurance and Billing specialists some time to review your documents, so don't worry if it still says "Processing."</div><div><br></div><div>You can find out more information about the waiver for both International and Domestic students on our <a href="https://health.umbc.edu/coverage-and-costs/insurance-waiver-and-mandate/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">website</a>.</div></div>

<Title>Sad News on the Passing of Rochelle Sanders</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>Dear Colleagues,</div><div><br></div><div>It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear colleague, Rochelle Sanders, who worked in Human Resources retiring in December 2019.  Rochelle was an integral part of our team and made a significant impact as one of the Directors of Human Resources.  I had the pleasure of working with her briefly as I came on board. </div><div><br></div><div>Rochelle was always willing to provide her expert knowledge and was incredibly dedicated to UMBC. Her kindness and calming spirit will be greatly missed by all of us who had the privilege to work alongside her.</div><div><br></div><div>Our thoughts are with the Sanders family during this difficult time.     <div class="html-content"><span>Skills Training in the Application of Interpersonal Regulation (STAIR) </span><span>helps students who struggle with relationship dynamics and emotion regulation. High-stress experiences overwhelm the emotional system, creating both emotional chaos and numbing, undermining our ability to think and act effectively, and disturbing our sense of self and relationships. The skills training and practice introduced in this program are designed to help you leave behind old patterns and develop new interpersonal behaviors and emotion management skills more consistent with your current life goals. </span><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>STAIR Group will run 3 times during Spring 2024, all rounds will be in-person.</span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>Round 1: Tuesdays from 1:30 - 3 p.m. beginning September 17 (8 weeks)</span></div><div><span>Round 2: Fridays from 1:30 - 3 p.m. beginning October 4 (8 weeks)</span></div><div><span>Round 3: Fridays from 10 - 11:30 a.m. beginning November 1 (6 weeks)</span></div><div><br></div><div><span><p><span>The first step to joining any group is to complete an Initial Consultation appointment. <Title>Support Group for International Students</Title>
<Tagline>Coming to a new country can be hard, but you aren't alone!</Tagline>

    <div class="html-content"><span>This </span><span>is a semester-long group intended to serve the mental health needs of international students. It provides a safe space for students to discuss the unique challenges of moving to a different country, such as homesickness, acculturation, and academic and interpersonal issues. The goal is for members to develop meaningful connections with others, find community, and get support regarding their challenges. </span><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>Group will take place in-person on Fridays from 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. beginning September 13.</span></div><div><br></div><div><span><p><span>The first step to joining any group is to complete an Initial Consultation appointment.     <div class="html-content"><p><span>It is open enrollment time for the university health insurance plan: <strong>Aetna Student Health</strong>.<span>  </span></span></p><p><span><br></span>It is easy to enroll.<span>  </span>All you need to do is contact Retriever Integrated Health's email at:<span> </span><a href="mailto:rih@umbc.edu" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">rih@umbc.edu</a><span> or contact the Insurance Office for RIH at:<span> </span>410-455-8091.<span>  </span></span></p><p><span><br></span>RIH will become your primary doctor and the copay for an office visit is only $10.00. Aetna Student Health will pay your full balance due.<span>  </span>Also, if you have the university health plan you can add a dental plan to your coverage.  All you have to do once you are enrolled in Aetna Student Health you can go to the UMBC page on the Aetna Student Health website, go to the benefits link and click on the link for the dental plan to enroll.<br><span><br></span></p><p><span>Plus, one of the great benefits is that students who have Aetna Student Health can receive a discount on acupuncture and massage.<span>  </span>The copay for these services is $20.00 for an hour appointment.</span></p><p><span><br></span><span>Open enrollment starts now and ends on October 1.<span>  </span>However, any students who lose their insurance or turn 26 after that date can still contact the Insurance Office to be enrolled.</span></p><p><span><br></span><span>The Insurance Office at Retriever Integrated Health is here to answer any questions you may have about the university health insurance plan!<span>  </span>You can contact the Insurance Office at:<span>  </span>410-455-8091 or 410-455-1557.</span></p></div>
