Woo Hoo! QMANIA 2010 IS ALMOST HERE!
Quadmania 2010 is only weeks away! I hope you're excited, because we sure are. We just got our Quadmania splash page up on the website, which has our first set of announcements! (Click the picture above to check it out.) We have a ton of cool things in store for the weekend of April 16-18, two awesome headlining acts, and a diverse lineup of live music for the outdoor stage. And you read that right... Quadmania's Outdoor Live Music Stage is going to be on the Quad!!
We heard your feedback and are happy to announce that Quadmania is returning to its roots this year as it should. The carnival and other fun things (and we mean it; think elephants and roller rinks) will still be on Lot 17, but don't think that it's going to be like it has in the past. We're putting a lot of effort into amping up the event and really restoring its community atmosphere because hey, that's what it's supposed to be about.
So stay tuned for more Quadmania 2010 updates, giveaways, and announcements.
The first round of Quadmania-themed giveaways will be at the Quadmania Pep Rally, which is set to take place Wednesday, April 7th from 11AM-1PM on the Commons Terrace. We've got a lot of fun things planned for this event. Here's a hint: find your favorite, boring blank T-shirt to bring with you! We're planning on screen printing shirts with the 2010 logo, so don't miss out!

ATTN Student Orgs: Take Part in Quadmania 2010!
As you are enjoying your break, the Student Events Board wanted to remind you that Quadmania is just around the corner! SEB has been working hard to organize a fun and eventful weekend, but we need your help in order to really make this year a success! Just like in years past, we hope that student organizations will play an active role in Quadmania, particularly on Saturday, April 17th. Quadmania will turn 30 this year, so in light of keeping things new, we are moving away from Parking Lot 17 to the space adjacent to the Fine Arts building. It is our hope that you will try something new, engage attendees and really make this a year to remember! This is also a great opportunity to represent your organization, educate others about your cause, raise funds, or recruit, as Saturday is typically our busiest day.
Below you will find a link to an online registration form that, once submitted, will reserve your organization a spot at the outdoor carnival. Please be as specific as possible when describing what you would like to do at your table (ie-what activities/games you will have, what you will sell, what you will give away, etc.). We'd like to see a good variety of unique activities! All forms are due by Friday, April 2nd!!

You've given us your feedback and you've been waiting for this announcement! We are pleased to announce that Quadmania 2010 will feature Third Eye Blind and Wale, on top of tons of other music acts and fun activities.

A UMBC ID is required for ticket purchase. Guests may attend the concert, but a UMBC student much purchase tickets. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask as a comment on this blog post or an email to studentevents@umbc.edu.
Also - If you want to be a part of SEB, apply for one of our executive board positions, the application is up! You can download the application electronically on our website or pick up a paper copy in our office, Commons 2B10. As always, stop by our office if you have any questions about the positions, or feel free to email questions to particular board members. It's a great way to help change campus in the direction you want it to go, really shape students' college experiences, and work with an excited team of your peers. You receive a stipend and there are tons of perks to the job. Give it a shot! We're hiring both event programmers and design and marketing directors. Applications are due Friday, March 12th.
So, don't forget! Get in line to buy tickets for Wale and Third Eye Blind on Wednesday, March 10th at 12PM at the Commons Information Center.

Hey UMBC! We survived the Snowpocalypse of 2010 with you and are finally back to our regularly scheduled programming. On Valentine's Day, February 14, the UC Ballroom was packed with students excited to see Owl City, which proved to be a great experience. The show sold out within the first two hours of being on sale and despite the harsh weather conditions, most people who bought tickets made it out!
Share your Owl City experiences with us and stay tuned for our announcements of the live music that will be featured at SEB's biggest event of the year, QUADMANIA!!! We're still working out all of the details for it, but we can promise you that at the very least it's going to be different than last year and better than before! In addition to the event, we're working on compiling a bunch of old Quadmania materials from the years (it's almost thirty years old, you know!) for a gallery that will be featured in the Commons at the Mezzanine (by the Grille and Mondo Subs) so you can see how it's changed and how it's progressed to what it is now.
If you have suggestions or desires for Quadmania, make yourself known! Use this as your forum for feedback. Obviously, bashing is largely pointless, but we're always open to constructive criticism and well thought out ideas.
Finally, it's Monday, February 22, which means today is the last day for the $5 commvision credit for Art Week submissions! You can still submit pieces until Wednedsay, but put your best photography, graphic design, or any other kind of art on a flash drive (or email them to commonvision@umbc.edu) and stop by the shop to get help with printing and learn more about Art Week. It's a great cultural even that happens on our campus and don't hesitate to be a part of it! There have been all sorts of submissions in the past, ranging from painting to poetry and film to graphic design. Check out the website and don't miss out! Things have been rough with a week missing due to snow, but take this time to share your work with your peers.
P.S.: SEB Board applications should be released this week! If you have any questions and want to know how to get more involved, stop by our office in Commons 2B10. Even if you've never been to a committee meeting, you can still apply to the board and make a huge difference in the way our campus community operates. We'll provide you with more news soon, but for now keep in mind that a lot of our programmers are graduating and we'll need to hire two design and marketing directors!
