Forest Therapy with Nature Sacred at UMBC


UMBC is pleased to welcome the Nature Sacred Firesoul Network to join our monthly Wellness Wednesday event in July, and the public is invited too!

In partnership with Chesapeake Mental Health Collaborative's Center (cmhcweb.com) for Nature Informed Therapy, and supported by Nature Sacred (naturesacred.org), this forest meditation and nature therapy session integrates traditional therapeutic methods with the healing effects of nature to restore and rejuvenate the mind and body.

Please plan to arrive early as our event will begin promptly at 12 noon on July 6, 2022. Note that sitting mats will be provided.

This message is for those of you who have submitted your time-based artwork entries to the Senior Show Entry Form and were confirmed as admitted to the exhibition by Dept. of Visual Arts Faculty.

INSTRUCTIONS to UPLOAD 

What: FACULTY-APPROVED MEDIA FILES, time-based artwork (animation, film, video, intermedia, game files, audio files, or motion graphics) for 2022 Visual Arts Senior Exhibition

Deadline: Upload by EOB Wednesday, May 18th

Home Bodies is the graduate thesis exhibition for the seven artists of the 2021 UMBC Intermedia + Digital Art MFA class: Amelia Voos, Danielle Damico, Elijah Davis, Lindsay D’Andelet, Maks Prykhodko, Rahne Alexander, and Safiyah Cheatam.

The exhibit runs from April 13 – May 7, 2021 at the Center for Art, Design and Visual Culture (CADVC) on the UMBC campus. The CADVC is open to the public via free, ticketed admission: Tues. - Sat. 10 am - 5pm.

The show title, Home Bodies, speaks to the challenges of artmaking in the throes of a global pandemic, and addresses themes common to the artists, including nature and embodiment, surveillance and medical intervention, and connections and displacement.
