CADVC will host a public talk featuring Shannon Collis and Liz Donadio of Baltimore-region artist collective, Collis Donadio, on March 4 at 6 pm. Their work, “Conflux: Variation” will be on view nightly from sundown until 2 am between February 14 and June 30, 2025 at the Fine Arts Building at UMBC.

“Conflux: Variation” (2025) is a public video art projection that explores the intersections of industry and the environment in Baltimore, where water meets land.

Between 2023 and 2024, collaborating artists Shannon Collis and Liz Donadio recorded video and audio documentation in sites where industry has reshaped local habitats, such as the Curtis Bay Water Tower and Baltimore City’s marine terminals. The artists think of this documentary research and resulting installation as a “speculative exploration of the future, using moving images to convey transformation and transition.”

Join us for a series of research talks by candidates interviewing for a tenure-track faculty position in the Design area in the Department of Visual Arts. This is a unique opportunity to gain insight into cutting-edge design research, engage with emerging ideas, and help shape the future of our program.

Each 45 minute talk will be followed by a Q&A session. At the end of each artist talk you'll be asked to fill out a form to record your impressions.

The Delaplaine Arts Center is seeking an undergraduate college student or recent college graduate interested in visual arts administration and community engagement to join our team as an intern in summer 2025.

The selected intern will work mainly in our community outreach program under the guidance of the Community Engagement Manager. The intern will gain experience in community-based art programming and education and will be expected to research, plan, and implement new ideas to enrich our community engagement. Duties and goals will be tailored to meet the needs of both the intern and the Delaplaine.

The intern will:
– Research and create content for Delaplaine at Home/Art Cart projects and videos
– Research and create video content for our Artist of Inspiration program
– Compile new and existing video content to better connect with our audiences
– Learn about and research outreach and art education in our community and propose ways the Delaplaine could expand current outreach programming
The intern may also have the opportunity to instruct Community Engagement Workshops.

The National Museum of Asian Art (NMAA) invites applications for its eight-week, paid Summer Undergraduate Internship Program. Designed for current undergraduate students with little to no previous museum experience, the program introduces interns to museum work in general plus they are matched with one department compatible with their interests or career goals. Individuals select department choices in their application, however specific departments and projects are determined at the time of an internship offer.
