UMBC has designated several spaces for commuting students to use for online access of classes in between their in-person courses:

• Sondheim 2nd floor: rooms 203-209 (160 seats)
• Engineering: rooms 104-104a; 333, 336, first and second floor atriums (150 seats)
• Library: The Retriever Learning Center and floors 2-7 have 450 seats, including study spaces.

Responsibilities:

The Retriever Production Team is looking for a designer who is interested in learning about newspaper layout, graphic design, and merchandise branding. This position is open to designers/ digital artists who are enthusiastic about creating engaging designs that help elevate student journalism and are prompt in meeting deadlines. It is preferred that applicants are familiar with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator, but access to an Adobe membership is not required. 

Requirements:

You must be an UNDERGRADUATE student at UMBC with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5. Incoming freshman and sophomores are encouraged to apply. This position is open to all majors. Visual Art and Media and Communication majors are encouraged to apply.  

Applicants should be prepared to 

• Assist in designing biweekly print issues 
• Design graphics as needed to accompany articles
• Assist in designing merchandise and branded material (shirts, stickers, etc.)
