    <div class="html-content"><span>Design/Marketing/Social Media Intern</span><br><br><span><a href="https://hugo-creative.com/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">HUGO Creative</a> is looking for a smart, talented, and driven individual looking to learn from the ground up with an established Creative Agency in the DC area. Candidate should be a designer/animator first, with a strong interest in marketing and social media. This person will assist on a wide range of projects but also will be working a lot on designing/animating social media posts and combing through past projects for content. This is not a hand-holding position. You will be asked to bring ideas to the table, to contribute, to be a self-starter. Both of these interdisciplinary research activities use visualization strategies to interpret and understand important changes in our environment and culture. The format of the conversation will be a gallery tour followed by Q+A.</p><h5>February 21, noon: Julie Sayo, Assistant Professor of Graphic Design, presents Babayin Writing Workshop!</h5><p>Julie Sayo is a Filipino-American graphic designer and educator. Her studio practice explores identity and the role of graphic design in decoloniality through the study and type design of Baybayin, a Tagalog writing system of the Philippines.</p><p>Join Julie Sayo in an interactive workshop to learn Baybayin writing and her research.</p><p>Space is limited. The gallery will reopen to the public beginning Friday, February 9th with our first show of the year, "Spectrum of Process: 2024 UMBC Faculty Exhibition." "Spectrum of Process" will be inaugurated by a festive reception free and open to all on February 8. 6-8pm. <Title>Open for Submissions: NextGen 11.0 @VisArts</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><div>The application for NextGen 11.0 is open! VisArts welcomes artists between the ages of 17-27 in the DC, MD, and VA area to submit their application to have their work exhibited at the Kaplan Gallery from March 22-May 12, 2024.</div><div><br></div>NextGen 11.0 is an opportunity for aspiring artists who have little or no exhibition experience to show their work in a professional gallery and participate in related programming. This includes: an opening reception, artist talks, conversations with other emerging artists, critiques w/local curators and art administrators, and other professional development opportunities. <div><br></div><div>This year's jurors are: Naoko Wowsugi, Associate Professor for American University's Department of Art and Community- Engaged artist  + José Ruiz, Curator and Director of the Curatorial Practice MFA program at Maryland Institute College of Art.</div><div><br><strong>Applications are due February 16th at midnight.
