What are the odds that you will be hit by falling space debris?
In the case of NASA’s Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite, about 1 in 3,200.
The satellite, which is roughly the size of a bus, weighs about 6 tons. It is the largest piece of space junk to fall to Earth in thirty years.
Analysts predict that it will break into 26 pieces upon re-entering the atmosphere. It will create a debris field 500 miles long!
NASA has yet to determine an exact time or location of impact, but will be releasing more information soon.
Reason to keep an eye on the sky? It certainly couldn’t hurt.
