The events of September 11, 2001 changed the course of history and had profound implications people all over the world.
While we in the United States spend this day honoring the victims that were lost in the attacks and their families, we also find the world reaction interesting.
There were 2,977 victims of the attacks and many others dealing with the effects of PTSD.
While we honor the victims and their families, it is also important to consider the casualties from the past 10 years of war. As @morafi notes, there have been 686,915 casualties in the War on Terror – something that equates to the victim count of two 9/11 attacks every month since September 11, 2001. This reality isn’t often considered, but is important. Especially for those of us in school right now, these are wars our generation will inherit and be responsible for.
We would like to honor all of the victims of the September 11 attacks and all subsequent victims of the War on Terror that have paid the cost for extremist factions in their country and the policies of governments for which they are not directly responsible.
Let us know your take and reflect on your experience on that day 10 years ago. Do you remember where you were?
