You might have already heard, Washington DC is the new home of a memorial honoring Martin Luther King Jr.
While hurricane Irene postponed the dedication, there is something on the statue that is creating a storm.
Author and poet Maya Angelou is fuming over a certain quote on the monument.
The quote is paraphrased, but says:
I was a drum major for justice, peace and righteousness.”
Angelou argues that the quote provides an unattractive and inaccurate representation of the hero that we know MLK to be:
The quote makes Dr. Martin Luther King look like an arrogant twit.”
So what do you think? Do you agree with Angelou? Or is this a storm in a teacup?
