Time to take off the clothes and take off the gloves.
When writer, pundit Meghan McCain decided to go “au naturale” for a Public Service Announcement about the dangers of skin cancer, sparks started to fly.
The always tasteful Glenn Beck launched a vicious tirade about her body—suggesting she wear a burqa. His radio show even featured him throwing up at the sight of her body when she appeared in the PSA.
Ms McCain responded with a blistering rebuttal in her blog on the Daily Beast, our favorite line:
As a person who is known for his hot body, you must find it easy to judge the weight fluctuations of others, especially young women.”
Let’s not let that detract from the real issue here.
Ms McCain (Daughter of Republican Senator John McCain) is drawing attention not to herself but the important issue of skin cancer prevention. Watch it. It’s not incredibly revealing, nor is it outlandish. This woman (and a few others) is trying to make a difference, and shouldn’t have her body ridiculed. That’s just taking it too far. Like McCain says in her article,
Is this really the legacy you want to be leaving for yourself?”
And while we’re on the topic of legacies that are just unbelievable, you’ll never believe what they found in the raid on Osama bin Laden.
