There are a few influential blogs in the world, blogs that we trust and depend on (USDemocrazy is one of those, right? … Right?).
But if a blog started writing about how the world was going to end, most people wouldn’t listen… At least that’s what you’d think.
THE WORLD IS GOING TO END.
Just kidding. I just wanted to see if you were still with me. Anyway, it turns out that kind of scare tactic works on many.
A blogger in Taiwan, who goes by the name Teacher Wang, has convinced many Taiwanese that an impending earthquake and tsunami (a magnitude 14!) will soon ravage their country.
The blogger goes on to say that only cargo containers can protect people from the impending doom.
People seem to be buying his message… and buying cargo containers!
There has been panic rush to buy those items. Police are wondering if Teacher Wang is in cahoots with a cargo container supplier to defraud people. And at $5,500 each, the cargo containers could make the blogger a pretty penny.
The cops have removed his blog entry about the tsunami and earthquake, but the blogger remains elusive.
Weather officials have also made statements declaiming Teacher Wang’s statements about the earthquake and tsunami, saying that an earthquake with a magnitude of 14 is unheard of.
It just goes to show you can’t believe everything you read in a blog (present company excluded, of course).
