The Federal Reserve Bank (the FED) is often regarded as a mysterious silent priesthood.
They issue pronouncements and commands about the US economy from behind closed doors.
The Fed’s vow of silence was surprisingly broken this week when the FED gave its FIRST EVER PRESS CONFERENCE.
Ben Bernanke, Chairman of the Fed took questions from reporters on a variety of issues. Two big questions he needed to answer were:
- Should the Fed keep our nation’s interest rates low as they are now?
- Hey, shouldn’t you raise those interest rates?
Each question has its pitfalls. As always, somebody has something to say on both sides:
What’s would you ask Ben Bernanke at his next press conference?
