Finally there is a breakthrough that has researchers, archaeologists, scientists, historians …. practically everyone excited about the possibility of verifying the ACTUAL existence of Atlantis! The much disputed location of the lost city is believed to be found in “mud flats in Southern Spain.”
An international team of researchers led by a U.S. backed expedition discovered a city submerged by the vast marshlands of the Dona Ana Park, just north of Cadiz Spain.
In addition to analyzing satellite imagery to inspect the site, a bevy of advanced technological instruments were used to confirm their findings.
In the past two years, archaeologists and geologists have quietly been surveying the site using “a combination of deep-ground radar, digital mapping and underwater technology.”
Very exciting stuff, to be able to prove myths and legends. Especially one that dates back 2,600 years ago to the writings of Plato, the only known historical source.
What about the whole island sinking beneath the sea story? There is a scientific explanation for that too.
Head researcher Richard Freund explains that Tsunamis in the region have been documented for centuries. And to top things off, Freund discovered strange “memorial cities” in Central Spain that were built in the image of Atlantis.
“We found something that no one else has ever seen before, which gives it a layer of credibility, especially for archaeology, that makes a lot more sense,” Freund said.
Now, what about all the other mysterious unexplained myths and legends, do they stand a chance?
- El Dorado: “The Lost City of Gold” that eluded the Spanish Conquistadors.
- Nasca Lines: Huge drawings (geoglyphs) in the desert of Peru that can only be viewed from high altitudes or space.
What do all of these puzzling mysteries have in common …… besides Disney movies? They are all mind blowing possibilities that put into question the astonishing capability of the human race.
