Ah, the dreaded curfew. Kids everywhere are known to hate it and break it.
A city in Japan has taken the art of this ancient limiting practice to the next level. That’s right kids, no more using those fancy smartphones after dark!
Starting April 1, children in Kariya city, Aichi prefecture, will be banned from using smartphones after 9pm. The decision comes as cyber-bullying has reached a peak in the town.
Now, breaking the curfew does not mean little ones will be carted off to the jailhouse. The ban is just a request. Technically, there is no punishment if kids or their parents do not comply, but the ban seems to have the community’s support.
It seems like a silly attempt to curb kids’ behavior, but who knows, maybe the “ban” will make a real impact. Elementary and middle schoolers should be sleeping by 9pm, right?
Would you support a smart-phone curfew?
