Who wouldn’t want to be a superhero for a day?
Thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, five-year-old Miles Scott of Tulelake, California donned cape and cowl to save Gotham City from danger as the great Batkid!
Miles was diagnosed with leukemia before his second birthday and has spent most of his life fighting cancer. He is now in remission.
To celebrate a difficult few years, the Make-A-Wish Foundation arranged for San Francisco to be transformed into Gotham City for a day so that Batkid could fight iconic villains like Penguin and the Riddler, rescue a damsel in distress, and receive the key to the city from San Francisco’s mayor.
Make-A-Wish made use of social media to call on volunteers to transform the city. They got so many responses that they had to turn people away.
Check out this photo gallery of Miles’ day. Just try not to crack a smile.
We at USDemocrazy were touched by this elaborate display of human kindness.
Keep making us proud, Batkid!
