Australia wants to change the climate…
But not in the way you might hope.
It seems the newly elected Prime Minister Tony Abbott doesn’t like the direction of the political climate around climate talks. So in his first cabinet meeting on Wednesday he announced that they were “getting straight down to business.”
And one of the first orders of business was to axe the Climate Commission, a body dedicated to providing reliable, impartial information about climate change to inform decision making.
Unsurprising from a man who has previously described climate change as “crap,” but a disappointing direction to see Australia headed in right out of the gate.
You can watch former head of the commission Tim Flannery defend the organization here.
